How can ES Healthcare help me find employment?
Our team of experts will assist in getting you licensed, obtaining your visa, and finding the right job for you. Our team includes: immigration attorneys, credentialing/licensing specialists, and seasoned staffing professionals. We will help you get the required licenses and authorizations for employment in the United States. We will also assist in all necessary steps including your Visa Screen/Type 1 Review, as well as handle any immigration documents needed in regards to your sponsorship for a work visa or permanent residency in the U.S.
What are the standard steps to securing a job with ES Healthcare, a division of Execu|Search?
The first step is for us to evaluate your education and professional background through a review of your CV. We also conduct in-person or video interviews to assess your personality and soft skills. If you meet our basic requirements for employment we will put an offer letter of employment together for you.
Our Process & Opportunities:
What type of assignments do you offer?
We work with a variety of treatment facilities: outpatient clinics, schools, after-school pediatric centers, skilled nursing facilities, adult daycare centers, and home healthcare. You will either be assigned to a single facility or split your time between two facilities. Furthermore, you may not be assigned to the same facility for your entire employment period with us. Many of our therapists benefit from the flexible opportunities available to be able to switch between work environments in order to enhance their skill set. However, if you prefer to work at a single facility for the entire employment period, we will do our best to meet your needs.
How long is my employment contract with Execu|Search?
Depending on the visa you qualify for, this will impact the terms of your employment contract. Generally, physical therapist contracts can last anywhere between 12-36 months starting on your first day of clinical employment.
What happens at the end of the employment period on my contract?
Prior to your contract ending, we will be in touch to discuss possible extensions, pay increases and other benefits.
Do you assist with finding housing?
We will assist you in finding housing accommodations by providing you with various websites to complement your search for a house or apartment. We will visit any apartments you are interested in and can meet with potential landlords prior to your arrival within the NYC metro area only. We'll also provide you with letters of employment to verify your work status with us.
Exams, Assignments & Costs:
What are the costs associated with working with ES Healthcare, a division of The Execu|Search Group?
While there is no fee to work with us, there are certain fees pertaining to the credentialing process (i.e., PT Exam cost, FCCPT credentialing cost, etc.) that you will be responsible for. However, we will provide reimbursements for the costs, which will be further outlined in your contract offer.
What are the English proficiency requirements to work in the U.S.?
The required scores are below:
- Computer-Based TOEFL: 220
- Test of Written English (TWE): 4.5
- Test of Spoken English (TSE): 50
Or the new combined exam:
- TOEFL iBT: Total 89 (Speaking, 26)
*English proficiency scores are required for all applicants who are not graduates of university healthcare programs from Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand and the U.K. Please note that CGFNS must receive your score directly from ETS.
What is a "Visa Screen?"
U.S. immigration law requires that certain foreign healthcare workers, including physical therapists, obtain a foreign healthcare certificate. There are currently two accredited agencies authorized to issue their certificates for physical therapists: CGFNS and FCCPT. The certificate issued by CGFNS is commonly referred to as a ‘Visa Screen’ certificate, and the FCCPT certificate is called a ‘Type 1’ review. The purpose of the immigration law requirement is to verify that foreign healthcare workers possess the basic educational requirements (i.e., 4-year degree, English proficiency and a foreign physical therapy license, etc.).
Will you provide me with study material or sample exam questions to prepare for the NPTE?
We do not directly provide you with study material, however, we will provide you with recommendations for resources based on other therapists who have successfully passed the NPTE.
Where can I take the NPTE?
The NPTE is only administered in the United States and its territories. While you do not need to pass the NPTE prior to your arrival in the U.S. on a green card or work visa, you must obtain an eligibility letter from the State licensing authorities confirming that you are eligible to sit for the NPTE exam. For more information on the NPTE, including locations and schedules, please visit: www.fsbpt.org.
What if I fail the NPTE?
If you do not pass the NPTE exam, please inform your direct contact at ES Healthcare immediately for next steps. The NPTE is only administered four times per year; therefore, we try our best to time our new hires to arrive immediately prior to a given test date. The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) issues pass/fail results within 24-72 hours of taking the examination.
Compensation & Benefits:
How much will I be paid?
We base your hourly pay rate on the United States Department of Labor’s fair wage determination when filing for employees’ visas. Special consideration may be given to the level of education and experience. We will also offer extra hours in the evenings and weekends to anyone interested. At the end of each year of your employment, we conduct a performance review and may increase your salary if performance goals are met.
How much will I be taxed?
Your tax rate will depend on your marital status and number of dependents. You can learn more about tax rates at https://www.irs.gov/.
Do you provide benefits?
As an employee of The Execu|Search Group, you will be eligible to participate in the firm’s benefits program. Currently, our benefits package includes: major medical, hospitalization, long-term disability, vision and dental. After 1 year, all employees are eligible to enroll in our 401k plan. Medical benefits begin on your first day of clinical employment, while dental and vision benefits begin 90 days after the first day of clinical employment.

We offer an annual $300 credit for a continuing education class of your choice. We also offer a number of in-house training opportunities presented by our on-staff therapist. We highly encourage sponsored therapists to pursue continuing education opportunities and professional development.
What if I have to go back home during my contract?
We understand that our employees may need time off to take care of personal family matters. While every situation is different, we are flexible with unpaid leave of absences.
If I am unhappy with my current assignment, can I change facilities?
We will always attempt to match you with a client based on your skills and preferences. We will do all we can to best accommodate your needs.
